So, sit back, grab a cup of tea, and get ready to journey into the world of the lymphatic system. Let’s learn, grow, and achieve better health together!

The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy immune system and eliminating toxins from the body. It serves as a transportation network, carrying waste materials, excess fluids, and immune cells throughout the body. When the lymphatic system becomes congested or sluggish, it can lead to various health issues and a compromised immune response.

There are few people who understand the body in such a deep way and can communicate the insights in an understandable and clear way and Dr. Perry Nickelston is one of those. His main topic seems to be the lymphatic system, but he is not constrained by dogma and understands the body as a unity of body, mind and spirit.

Dr. Perry has the ability to intellectually explain the workings of the body, pain and movement, and to emotionally pick you up and lead you to deep insights that actually have the power to change paradigms.

I, Tim Böttner, guide you to an holistic understanding and embodiment of health. To do that, I’m bringing together the leading experts and sharing my essence with you. Integrating the knowledge of specialists to gain the wisdom of a generalist. Listen to the Episode 1 and Episode 2 with Dr. Perry Nickelston. Make sure to share some love, if that was useful. Dr. Perry Nickelston is a practicing chiropractor. He developed his own holistic programs with Stop Chaising Pain.

I want to highly recommend all workshops by Dr. Perry Nickelston. The wealth of knowledge he shares is unparalleled and can greatly contribute to your understanding of your body and health. You can find these workshops via this.

Additionally, I’d love for you to join our ‘Unlock Your Body‘ program. In it, we’ve designed a way to take this wealth of knowledge and transform it into a practical, implementable daily movement routine. Think of it as your daily body care – an essential routine that supports your physical health just as much as brushing your teeth supports your oral health.

In this video, we explore the “Big 6 Lymph Routine” developed by Dr. Perry Nickelston, which focuses on stimulating the key lymphatic points in the body.

For each area: Rub 20 times, Tap 20 times, Circle 20 times

  1. Above and below the collarbone
  2. Jawline
  3. Chest
  4. Abdomen
  5. Hip area
  6. Back of the knees

Afterwards: Shake/Bounce for 30 seconds.

Our Invitation: We invite you to do this routine every day for the next two to four weeks. Anytime. Let us know what happens! Share in the comments on YouTube, on Instagram @thinkflowgrow and @stopchasingpain or sent me a mail at tim@thinkflowgrow.com

I love to hear the magic! You may be familiar with my mobility routines, which are based on motor development and start with breathing. A good idea is to do the lymph routine right before that. Feel free to give me feedback if you feel any changes.

Unraveling the Lymphatic System: Its Structure, Function, and Influence on Holistic Health

The human body is an intricate and remarkable system, and one of its lesser-known but incredibly vital components is the lymphatic system. This often-underestimated part of our immune system plays a pivotal role in maintaining our overall health, both physically and mentally.

Understanding the Lymphatic System

In simple terms, the lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes that works like a sanitation system for our bodies. It collects and filters out the body’s cellular waste, bacteria, viruses, and other unwanted materials. It also produces and transports white blood cells, critical to combating diseases and infections. The primary structures involved in the lymphatic system are the lymph vessels, lymph nodes, tonsils, adenoids, spleen, and thymus.

Impacts on Physical Health

When the lymphatic system functions correctly, it contributes significantly to maintaining our overall physical health. It aids in the removal of toxins and waste from the body, which supports the immune system. Additionally, it aids in the absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins from the digestive system and transports these nutrients to the cells of the body where they are needed.

However, when the lymphatic system becomes congested or blocked due to factors like lack of physical activity, poor diet, or disease, it can cause a build-up of toxins in the body. This can lead to a range of health problems, including increased susceptibility to viral and bacterial infections, joint pain, fatigue, bloating, and even more serious conditions like lymphedema and cancer.

Mental and Emotional Health

But the lymphatic system’s effects are not only limited to physical health. Emerging research suggests a link between the lymphatic system and mental and emotional health as well. The brain has its own lymphatic system, known as the glymphatic system, which helps remove waste products from the brain. When this system doesn’t function properly, it may contribute to neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. Furthermore, studies have shown that the immune response influenced by the lymphatic system can affect mood and behavior, and disruptions in this system could contribute to mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety.

Insights from Eastern Cultures

The recognition of the importance of the lymphatic system isn’t new; Eastern cultures have understood the significance of a balanced lymphatic system for centuries. Practices such as Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasize the need to keep the body’s energy channels, including the lymphatic system, clear. Techniques such as lymphatic massages, yoga, acupuncture, and herbal remedies have been used to support lymphatic health.

In conclusion, the lymphatic system is a crucial part of our overall health and wellbeing. It affects not only our physical state but also has profound impacts on our mental and emotional health. Ensuring it functions correctly is vital. Regular exercise, a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, and stress management are some ways to support your lymphatic system and, consequently, your holistic health. As we understand more about this remarkable system, it becomes clear that its function is more important to our health and wellbeing than we once realized.

Wisdom from Dr. Perry about the Body and Lymphatic System

Dr. Perry is to some extent an absolute specialist, but also a generalist who recognizes principles and gets to the heart of the matter. I’d like to share some of his insights about health with you here. Let them resonate with you.

  • Spend time in nature. It reminds you that you’re perfect. It heals things.
  • Touch the earth with your skin.
  • Spend time in silence. Silence the noise around you so you can hear the noise within you.
  • Sing and dance every day as if no one were watching.
  • Breathe through your nose, not through your mouth.
  • More is not better. Better is better.
  • It’s not about what you do, but how you do it.
  • A genuine smile can change a person’s life. Try it out and observe how “magic” happens.
  • Rules can’t be applied to an individual. Principles can.
  • The more problems you have, the more important simplicity becomes.

The location of pain is not necessarily the location of the cause. In fact, that’s rarely the case. Over his decades of practice, Dr. Perry has established a hierarchy in which systems build on one another. This is true root cause analysis. Reflect while reading which of the upper systems could be disrupted in you. If these are resolved, then the lower, more specific levels often automatically regulate themselves.

By the way, I follow this line of thought when it comes to movement as well: A movement routine along the line of neuromotor development fundamentally optimizes movement programs and can thus solve many “upstream” problems.

Here’s the order of this hierarchy:

  1. Brain: physical and emotional stress
  2. Lymphatic system
  3. Gut
  4. Vascular system (microcirculation stagnation)
  5. Peripheral nerves
  6. Organs
  7. Endocrine hormones
  8. Muscles, fasciae, joints, and ligaments
  9. Local tissue (location of pain)

Does this chain of thought make sense to you? You can clearly see why chronic stress is so dangerous (1). Why lack of movement, leading to lymphatic congestion (2), influences all other systems. Why gut health is so essential (3). And why pain is a result, which is usually preceded by many harbingers.

Before the “pain teacher” comes, you should learn to listen to the “pain whisperer”. Address the deeper issues in the hierarchy and you may find that the symptoms lower down, including the final pain signals, can take care of themselves.

A key to recognizing these early signs

A key to recognizing these early signs is mindfulness: tuning into what your body and mind have to say. Dr. Perry Nickelston suggests an “Awareness Exam” for this. He manually rubs the entire body, searching for areas of pain that the client may not be aware of. No part of your body should hurt when you rub it. This is something you can also do for yourself. If you find painful spots, these could be a starting point for further investigation.

I like to use a body scan, where you become aware of your body. Many people immediately recognize problem areas that previously lay in the subconscious. Another way to check your body is by using a ball or a foam roller, also known as a Blackroll. With this, you roll out different parts of your body, paying attention to areas of tension or discomfort. Some time ago, I recorded a lower and upper body part using this method.

Remember, the purpose is not to induce pain, but to increase awareness and work out any tension or stiffness. It’s a simple and effective way to connect with your body, spot potential issues, and maintain good physical health. The key, as always, is to listen to your body’s “whispers” before they become “screams”.

It’s important to note that when we say ‘unconscious,’ it means you might not be aware of it, but it’s still negatively affecting your system. It’s still causing you stress. Eating french fries every day will probably make you unhealthy and overweight, even if you’re not aware of the dangers of trans fats. It’s better to bring these unconscious stressors into your consciousness. Once you are aware of them, you can address and resolve them.

Remember, knowledge is power. By becoming aware of what’s happening in your body, you can take proactive steps to improve your health and wellbeing. So, listen to your body, understand what it’s telling you, and act accordingly to minimize stress and maximize health.
